Trout Fishing Day angling way to Tierra Verde Lake Park

The Kiwanis Litchfield Park Winter Trout Fishing Derby goes 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Tierra Verde Lake Park, 301 S. Old Litchfield Road.

Registration opens 6:30 a.m.

This family event encourages residents to grab poles for a day of fishing. Some 750 pounds of trout will be stocked in Tierra Verde Lake for the annual Winter Trout Derby. Age group trophies are awarded in the following categories: longest, shortest and most trout caught. There will also be opportunities to win raffle prizes.

A fishing license is not needed to take part in the derby; however, participants must bring their own poles and bait. Anyone intending to fish after the derby or on a different day must purchase a fishing permit at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center, 100 S. Old Litchfield Road. Cost is $4 per pole used for those ages 15 and under, and $6 per pole used for those 16 through adult.
