Local communications professionals are among five invited to join the Silver Circle Society of the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

This year’s virtual Rocky Mountain Emmys, happening Saturday, Sept. 19, will recognize  honorees, including a Salt Lake City meteorologist, as Silver Circle Society inductees who are accomplished television professionals in the industry for at least 25 years.

The industry veterans, according to a press release, have built a strong reputation in the region through exceptional professional achievements, demonstrated leadership abilities and extensive public service.

“The 2020 class of Silver Circle Inductees represents the very best of the best,” said Doug Mummert, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter president, in a prepared statement.

“All of them have diverse professional backgrounds and extensive experience. They also stand out as leaders in our community and industry. The Academy is honored to add them to the ranks of our chapter legends.”

Local Silver Circle Society inductees are:

  • Jennifer Doan, FOX 10, Phoenix: A producer for FOX 10 Arizona Morning. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Oklahoma.  After interning at KPHO Channel 5 in Phoenix, and travelling around the world performing with the Up with People program, she officially joined FOX 10 in December 1997.
  • Mike Harris, City of Glendale, Glendale: The on-air multimedia journalist for the City of Glendale, he graduated from Northern Arizona University. He served in several roles, including videographer, reporter and producer for CNBC, FOX 5 DC, KGET Fresno and 3TV Phoenix. The recipient of four Emmys and several National Press Photographer Awards, he is a judge for the National Press Photographers Association, an adjunct professor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a volunteer for several organizations.
  • Felipe Corral, Univision: An Emmy-nominated sports personality for Univision, not only leads extensive sports coverage in Arizona and Mexico, including the Super Bowl and MLB World Series, but has exclusively interviewed some notable names in sports from Hugo Sánchez to Floyd Mayweather.
  • Sean McLaughlin, 3TV & CBS 5, Phoenix: Serving in multiple news and weather anchor roles for 3TV & CBS 5, Arizona’s Family, he has been a versatile broadcaster and community volunteer for over 25 years in Phoenix.  A 10-time Emmy award recipient, his career highlights include stints as MSNBC’s main meteorologist and Sunday weather anchor on NBC’s “Weekend TODAY Show.”
