Luke AFB veteran wins free A/C Unit for Veterans Day

Forrest Anderson Plumbing and Air Conditioning Inc., 17225 N. 63rd Ave., a family-owned business since 1961, awarded the winner of its 4th Annual Military Hero A/C Giveaway contest to Dan Dennison, a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years.

Most of Mr. Dennison’s career was spent at Luke Air Force Base with his wife Brenda and family, where he was a F-16 Crew Chief with the 302nd Fighter Squadron. He also did assignments in Turkey, Italy, Germany and Brazil. Following retirement in 2007, Mr. Dennison drove school buses and semi-trucks, and now operates a home business welding custom parts for construction companies.

In October, Mr. Dennison was selected as one of three finalists in the Forrest Anderson Military Hero A/C Giveaway that honors the men and women in our community who have served or are still serving our country. Stories of all three finalists were shared on the Forrest Anderson Facebook Page, and the Wittmann Veteran won the public vote.

“We are thrilled to present this new HVAC system to the Dennison family, to make life a little easier for a local military hero who is always willing to help friends and neighbors,” said Audrey Monell, president of Forrest Anderson. “As the granddaughter of a World War II veteran who started this company, I believe it’s important for us to express our gratitude for their service in the military and our community.”

The new unit comes at the perfect time as the Dennison’s son, Bryan, and his wife, Kat, will be moving in to save money while expecting their second child in February.

“We would like to thank Forrest Anderson for this wonderful contest and for recognizing Veterans, as well as their spouses and children, who sacrificed so much for our country,” said Mr. Dennison.

Mr. Dennison’s daughter, Alicia, and son-in-law, Chuck, are serving in Ansbach, Germany, where Chuck has been an Apache helicopter pilot for the last 3-years. They are returning to the states with their two children in April.

“It is an honor to be a part of this annual tradition and we feel extremely blessed because our 20-year old A/C unit was on its last leg after being damaged in a storm and would not have lasted another summer,” said Brenda Dennison.

The contest was made possible thanks to donations from MORSCO HVAC Supply/Bush Supply, which is providing the Dennisons with a 14 SEER Comfortmaker HVAC system and the sheet metal, and Smiley Crane Service, which will assist with the installation.

The other two finalists in the Military Hero Giveaway will receive a free A/C Tune Up, valued at $84.95.
