Goodyear library extends curbside pickup hours

Posted

The Goodyear Branch Library has extended curbside pickup hours to included 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings in addition to its regular 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday curbside service.

Maricopa County Library District began curbside pickup in May. Under the program, library patrons can reserve up to 20 items online at catalog.mcldaz.org or by calling 602-652-3000. Once items are available, the patron will be notified and will have seven days to pick them up during curbside hours. No appointment is necessary, according to the library district’s website.

Patrons using curbside pickup at the Goodyear Branch Library, 14455 W. Van Buren St., Suite C-101 in the Goodyear Municipal Complex, are instructed to follow the signs to the designated parking area and stay in their vehicle.

Library staff will ask for the patron’s library bar code number, return with the requested items and place them in the trunk. The cardholder does not have to be present, but those picking up items must present the patron’s library card or their own card to pick up items.

Patrons ages 6 and older who expect to have interaction with library staff or members of the public while picking up items are asked to wear a face coverings as required by Maricopa County mask order.

Patrons may keep DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and seven-day express items for seven days before renewing or turning them in. TV shows and new adult books can be kept for 14 days and all other materials for 21 days. Renewals may be made online or over the phone if no one else has requested them and renewal limits have not been reached.

Items may be returned any time via drive-up/walk-up drop boxes, which have 24-hour access. Because of COVID-19 safety measures, it may take up to 72 hours for returned items to be processed and removed from the patron’s account.

Library cards

Maricopa County Library District cards must be renewed annually. Patrons may renew them online at mcldaz.org/renew if their home, business or property address hasn’t changed, or they don’t owe more than $10 in fees.

Maricopa County residents who do not have a library card may schedule a video conference call to get a new library card using the library district’s Book-a-Librarian Service at mcldaz.org/help/schedule. During the conference they will need to verify their residence with photo identification and proof of residence, business or property ownership.

Digital-only cardholders also may use the Book-a-Librarian Service to convert their digital card into a standard adult library account.

For more information, visit mcldaz.org/about/curbside-faq. Those wishing to cancel items on hold may call 602-652-3000 and ask to be connected with the Goodyear branch.
