Goodyear-based Cincinnati Reds employee tests positive for COVID-19

Team says individual had limited contact with public

Posted

The Cincinnati Reds announced March 18 that an employee who worked at the team’s player development complex, 3125 S. Wood Blvd., Goodyear has tested positive for COVID-19.

The facility is separate from Goodyear Ballpark.

The employee, who had limited interaction with the public, is being quarantined, city of Goodyear spokeswoman Tammy Vo said in a release. Team staff who came into contact with the employee are being tested and have self-quarantined, and the team is reaching out to anyone who was inside the building between Feb. 29 and March 14 to make them aware of potential exposure to the coronavirus, Ms. Vo said.

The city continues to practice strict sanitizing measures at all of its facilities, including the Goodyear Ballpark, where spring training games were canceled March 12, and city staff continues to practice social distancing to reduce human-to-human contact, she said.

Anyone with questions about the coronavirus or possible exposure may call the Maricopa County Health Department at 844-542-8201.
