Adele Kish

Posted

“They will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.”

With great sadness we share that our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Adele Kish, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2020 in Geneva, IL. She was 91 years old and the beloved wife of the late Elmer W. Kish.

Adele was born Fern Adele Larrance on April 4, 1929 to parents Heber and Madolyn (Hall) Larrance, and was raised in Lansing, IL. Adele is survived by 3 of her 7 siblings Norma Spears, Richard, and Jane Larrance-Zabawa and preceded in death by Myrl Forsyth, Allen, and Dorothy Madison.

After graduating Thornton Fractional Township High School in 1947, Adele began working for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She liked to tell the story of how she met the love of her life, Elmer, while on a blind date with another suitor. Adele and Elmer were married on Sept. 1, 1951 and built a home together in Munster, IN where they raised their children, Paul (Connie), Cheryl Pacilio (Mike), Nannette Richardson (Troy) and Debra Bussey (Stuart). She is the beloved grandmother to ten and great-grandmother to three.

Adele lived a full and happy life as a wife and homemaker. She baked amazing pies, kept an immaculate house, and often said that her greatest achievement was her family. She was also an instrumental part of the family business, Kish & Rauer Plumbing.

In the 1980’s, Adele returned to work in the Bell System (later known as AT&T) until her retirement after which she and Elmer moved to Sun City West, AZ where they lived for 20 years. There she enjoyed the warm and sunny climate, participated in musical theater, and sang soprano in her beloved Westernaires choir. She also took time to pursue her love of tennis which continued until her last days.

Adele and Elmer were quite impressive on the dance floor, played a mean game of bridge, and were always warm and generous hosts. They were a deeply committed couple and she missed him greatly after his passing in 2016.

In lieu of flowers, charitable gifts in Adele’s memory are being received by The Neighbor Project, 32 S. Broadway, Aurora, Il 60505 or online https://neighborproject.us/donate/. If donating online, indicate “In loving memory of Adele Kish” in the special instructions.
