Father shoots 2 children at Chandler home, kills self

PD: Gunshot victims expected to survive

A father shot two of his children, injuring them critically, before using the weapon to kill himself, Chandler police said Saturday night.

The shooting happened at a home in the 1100 block of West Goldfinch Way. Police said the children and their mother were home when her husband, who does not live at the home, arrived unannounced, and a “domestic violence incident occurred.”

The woman was not injured, police said. The children were taken to a hospital in “extremely critical condition,” they said.

On Sunday morning,  Chandler detectives learned that the  two  children  are in stable  condition and expected to survive from the gunshot wounds.

Police also identified the father as Derek Aaron Tighe.

Police have confirmed there had been a history of domestic violence between the parents.

Authorities have not released the identities of the other involved.
