Sandy, 75, of Sun City, AZ, passed away July 16, 2020. The daughter of James and Mabel Meroney, she was born on February 17, 1945 in Denver, CO.
Her childhood years were spent in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. She had two step-brothers and two step-sisters.
Sandy’s career was as Grant Specialist at Colorado State University, where she worked for 28 years.
Sandy leaves to remember her: Brad, her husband of 52 years; daughter, Sonee Kumro (Todd); son-in-law, Mike Barksdale; grandchildren: Andrew and Alyssa Barksdale, Brittany VanNostrand, Carissa Wiggen, Fayth and Skyler Kumro; and great-grandchild, Zaydrian Armenta. Her parents and youngest daughter, Andrea Barksdale, precedes Sandy in death.
Sandy had many diverse interests and hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed travel, camping and playing games. She loved to sing, and her special song she shared with Brad was ‘Strangers In the Night’.
Sandy was a collector of art, which she proudly displayed in her home, and an avid fan of all CSU sports.
The Wiggen family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given by the staff at Banner Thunderbird Hospital as well as the exceptional caregivers of Hospice of the Valley. They are heroes.
