LESD Educational Foundation elects three new board members

Litchfield Elementary School District Educational Foundation has announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors.
Paul Bentz, Tracy Hernandez and Wendy McGee are the newest members of the all-volunteer board dedicated to celebrating educational excellence in the A-rated district that serves 12,000 Southwest Valley students at 16 elementary and middle schools in Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear and Litchfield Park, according to a news release.
Mr. Bentz is senior vice president of research and strategy for HighGround Public Affairs.
As an outspoken advocate for public education, he has nearly two decades of experience in strategy, messaging and public opinion research. His wife teaches at Wigwam Creek Middle School, and their three daughters all attended LESD’s schools.
Ms. Hernandez is a financial/data analyst at Cancer Treatment Centers of American in Goodyear, with 20 years’ experience in nursing fields.
She is president of the Arizona Assistance in Healthcare and Phoenix Oncology Nursing Society, has chaired several high-profile charity events and brings robust fundraising experience to the foundation, the release stated.
Ms. McGee retired in Victory at Verrado in 2017 after a career in finance and executive-level management that included serving as both chief financial officer and chief executive officer of The Powell Companies, whose primary business was senior and non-senior housing.
She also was owner and CFO of Blood Bank Computer Systems Inc., a company that develops software for community blood centers, and is co-founder of the Helping Others Together Community Foundation, a nonprofit that serves the West Valley.
“We are delighted to welcome these three new leaders whose expertise and valuable energy will ignite our efforts to celebrate the remarkable efforts of Litchfield’s A-plus teachers and staff,” foundation President Kathryn Prusinski said in a prepared statement.
“Our foundation leaders understand that schools cannot do it alone,” LESD Superintendent Jodi Gunning said in a prepared statement. “Their support is crucial to our stunning 92 percent teacher retention rate.”
Among other things, the educational foundation hosts the PRIDE Awards every spring, celebrating district teachers and staff for their excellence.
“This is a beloved tradition that fuels employee satisfaction and the district’s positive culture,” Ms. Prusinski said.
