Helen Wieczkiewicz

Posted

Helen passed away on January 9, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born in Cairnbrook, Pennsylvania in 1929.
After high school, she moved to New York City where she met her husband of 60 years, Edward Wieczkiewicz. Helen and Edward married in 1951, had four children and moved to Arizona in 1962.
Helen attended Arizona State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees. She worked as a school psychologist for many years and specialized in teaching kids with learning disabilities how to read. Teaching these kids was her passion. She traveled the world, for pleasure, but also to share reading techniques with teachers in other countries and on the Navajo Indian reservation.
Loved by all, Helen dedicated herself to her church, her family, and her friends.
Edward preceded Helen in death in 2011. Helen is survived by a sister, four children, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
Helen’s funeral Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West on January 29, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. followed by internment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 2:30 P.M. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed from the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, Sun City West, AZ Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/OurLadyofLourdesSCW/videos).
