Goodyear police make ‘significant arrest’ in assault case
[Goodyear Police Department]
Jose Romero was arrested by Goodyear police on May 4.
The Goodyear Police Department has made what it called a “significant arrest” in the case of Jose “Jesse” Romero, 24, who is being held on multiple charges including domestic violence and theft.
Police said Romero arrived at the home of a woman he knew in the Cotton Flower neighborhood near 174th Avenue and Cocopah Street on May 4.
Romero allegedly assaulted the woman at gunpoint and then stole some of her belongings including her phone. He then stole a motorcycle, police said.
He was taken into custody the next morning with the help of a Goodyear K-9 officer near Dysart and Rancho Santa Fe in Avondale.
Police recovered the motorcycle and an additional stolen vehicle.
Romero was booked into a Maricopa County jail and is facing five separate charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two drug charges, a theft charge and an additional weapons charge.
