Donald, 87, died at his home in Sun City West on Wednesday January 20, 2021 after a long illness.
Don was born in Kenosha, WI in 1933 the only child of John and Esther Owen. Don attended public schools in Zion, IL and graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1956 with a B.A. in business.
Don served in the U.S. Army. He was a Savings and Loan President and a tax accountant.
He served on several municipal organizations and held an elected county office. Don was a board member and teacher at churches he attended in Zion. He was an active member of the Gideons International and started a Stephen Ministry program at his last church Palm West Community in Sun City West. He was active in small groups, Vision team and Finance.
Don is survived by his wife, Ann of 21 years; son, Donald Owen, Jr.; stepson, Arthur George (Mary Beth); step-grandchildren, Marisa and Austin George; cousins, Ruth Sallberg and Evelyn Brandt; nieces and nephews: Sayre, Karleen and Ronald Swarztrauber, Beryl Ann Johnston, Heidi Schwarztrauber and Holly Pap-Follman. Don was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, JoAnna.
