Charles, 80, departed this life on June 30, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, August 7, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Fort Lyon Veterans National Cemetery, Las Animas, CO.
Charley was born in La Junta, CO, on March 31, 1940 to Ernest and Alma (Murray) Barber Bemiss.
Charley is survived by his wife, Loni Miller Barber and his son, Charles Ray of Bradley, OK. Surviving children include sons, David Miller, Phoenix, AZ; Christopher (Amy) Miller, Calhan, CO; and Jason (Weenonnah) Miller, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Miya, Kylee, Chris Jr., Kaden and Jay Jr. Miller; sister, Roberta (Orville) Melton, Limon, CO; sister, Virginia White, Santa Rosa, CA; brother, George (Sue) Bemiss, La Junta, CO; sister-in-law, Sandy Gerler Bemiss, La Junta, CO; and sister, Nancy (Jon) Vandiver, Calhan, CO.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, his dad, Charles William (Bill) Bemiss, his brother, Robert (Bob) Bemiss and his grandparents.
Charley spent 20 years in the US Navy serving aboard the USS Coral Sea during the Vietnam war. He also served his country at many other locations in the US throughout his career with the Navy. He worked at various jobs and locations after retiring from the Navy.
Charley and Loni enjoyed square dancing and traveling the country to see family and friends. We miss Charley.
