Buckeye Police enforce seat belt use in Buckle Up Arizona campaign

Posted

The Buckeye Police Department will enhance enforcement of seat belt and child safety seat use during an upcoming annual statewide campaign.

Buckle Up Arizona enforcement will run from May 23 to June 5. The goal of the campaign is to reduce car crashes and their devastating impacts on human lives.

Buckeye PD was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to cover overtime costs and employee-related expenses for the two-week enforcement campaign aimed at enhancing seat belt and child safety seat use throughout the city.

This will include aggressive traffic enforcement with a zero-tolerance approach to seat belt and child safety seat violations.

Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death, injury and property damage in Arizona and the U.S. According to the Arizona Motor Vehicle Crash Facts, more than 30% of drivers and passengers who died in car crashes in 2020 were not restrained, including  one child fatality.

The Buckeye PD thanks the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for its ongoing support in encouraging safe driving practices that prevent crashes, make our roads safer and protect drivers and passengers.
