William, 95, of Sun City, AZ, was born July 26, 1925, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, to Blanche and Chester Hinton.
He grew up and went to high school in East Stroudsburg; attended Washington Missionary College in Takoma Park, Maryland, where he met his wife, Harriet Marie Newmyer; and Union College in Nebraska, graduating with a degree in Theology.
He started his career teaching school for four years in Pennsylvania and Maryland and then became a minister for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nebraska, Kentucky-Tennessee, Ohio and New York for 32 years.
After retiring from the ministry, he was a Chaplain for 20 years in New Jersey, Tennessee and at Loma Linda University Health in Loma Linda, California.
He and Harriet retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1996. In retirement he enjoyed lapidary art, growing roses, photography and reading his Bible.
He passed away on July 22, 2021 and is survived by Harriet, his wife of 74 years; daughter, Faith Hughes; son, William Jr. and wife, Brenda; grandson Jeremy Hughes and wife Lanette.
