Waldron: Don’t call annexed area ‘south Apache Junction’

Posted

The Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent has referred to the recently annexed land south of U.S. Highway 60 as “South Apache Junction” in several articles over the past few months.

By using that reference then, the area north of US60 becomes “North Apache Junction.” So why is the Independent trying to split AJ as north and south? Is it some attempt to create division in AJ for some future advertising revenue?

We are all Apache Junction whether the land lies north or south of US60, we will always be AJ and we need to embrace the newly annexed land and further expansion in the future.

Please stop referring to the newly annexed area as “South Apache Junction” and call it what it is, Apache Junction.
