Superstition Mountain raises $80K for Sunshine Acres Children’s Home
Posted
Members of Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club raised more than $80,000 during its recent Rock-N-Roll for Sunshine Acres event.
More than 150 members attended the charity dinner which included rounds of bocce ball, high-end raffle and live auction items and entertainment by the Sunshine Acres Children’s Choir, according to a release.
Sunshine Acres, 3405 N. Higley Road in Mesa, provides a loving, wholesome Christian home for children who are separated from their parents and helps them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures. The children’s home provides emotional, social, physical, educational and spiritual support for children during what is no doubt a turbulent time in their life with the mission to ultimately prepare them for future success, the release states.
“Giving back to our community is one of Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club’s core pillars and I am humbled by the compassion and generosity of our members, staff and ownership,” Mark Gurnow, general manager of Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, said in the release. “Sunshine Acres is an amazing organization doing important work in our community.”
The private golf club, 8000 E. Club Village Drive in Gold Canyon, has become known over the years for actively supporting its surrounding community. A group of members have formed a club of volunteers, Superstition Mountain Cares, specifically dedicated to identifying deserving, sometimes underfunded, nonprofits in the community and spearheading fundraising events to support these organizations.
Nestled at the foot of the Superstition Mountains in Gold Canyon, Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club is a private club offering both golf and social memberships. The luxury, guard-gated community features village-style neighborhoods, award-winning homes and two Nicklaus Design golf courses.
