Oborne: Lost Dutchman Marathon volunteer-run, raises money for charities

Your story, map and picture of the runners struggling to finish the grueling 26.2-mile marathon in your February 2020 issue (Page 36) was a nice recognition of this volunteer-driven community event; now in its 19th year.
But what was not stated is that it is one of the only --- it now might be the only --- volunteer marathon in the country.
And on top of that, all proceeds --- yes, there are costs such as runners' food, shirts, finishers' medals etc., etc. --- go to youth sports and services in AJ.
For each of the last several years, the LDM has donated $60,000 to our youth each year.
C'mon out and cheer for the finishers at Prospector Park on Feb 16.
