Monsoon hits Apache Junction hard

Posted

Monsoon rain Thursday afternoon flooded roads and washes in Apache Junction where police reported they had to make several rescues.

Most areas reported more than an inch of rain, and some locations had more.

Numerous roads were closed due to flooding, police said.

Among them were:

  • Goldfield, north of Foothill.
  • Foothill, west of Goldfield.
  • Tomahawk, south of 19th Avenue.

Crews from the Apache Junction Public Works Department were at several locations following the storm to make roads passable for travel, police said.
