At Lost Dutchman State Park, 6109 N. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, there are creepy things crawling in the dark.
Scorpions find their way into all the nooks and crannies of the desert and after dark you can light up their fluorescent forms on a hike with a ranger July-September, according to a release.
A desert scorpion hunting class is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
Learn more about these stinging invertebrates and then check them out as they scurry across the desert floor under cover of darkness.
Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water and a black light. You can also purchase a light for $9 at the event. No pets, please.
Park entrance fee is $7 per vehicle of one to four adults. Individuals on a bicycle cost $3. The cost increases to $10 per vehicle Friday-Sunday and holidays from October to May.
