A job description for a new director at Apache Junction Unified School District was recently approved along with those for an executive director, network administrator and a technician.

There are 33 jobs available on the school district’s website, ajusd.org/Page/62, including three of the four job descriptions approved in a March 24 consent agenda by the AJUSD Governing Board.

The open jobs are the executive director of business services; the director of communications and community engagement; and the network administrator, Dr. Krista Anderson, Apache Junction Unified School District superintendent, said.

The four new job descriptions are:

Director of communications and community engagement

Dependent on qualifications, the full-time position is to pay $58,974.00-$79,446.00, according to AJUSD documents.

“The director of communications and community engagement is instrumental in organizing and conducting community affairs and marketing programs for the school district; serving as primary contact with the district’s external communities to encourage community agencies or groups to form partnerships with schools; through various media, communicating district goals, issues, achievements, programs and activities to employees, parents and the general community; developing a comprehensive marketing program which includes but is not limited to social media, television, radio and print media; developing in-district videos; and enhancing the district’s communication methods,” it states as a description.

The required education is a bachelor’s degree; and experience in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field, it states.

Executive director of personnel services

The full-time salary, dependent on qualifications, is listed as $81,206.00-$109,397.00.

“The executive director of personnel services serves as administrative officer for all personnel, payroll, and benefits matters,” the description states.

“He/she plans, coordinates, directs and supervises a comprehensive human resource program for the district; advises the superintendent on personnel, payroll and benefit matters; implements all personnel policies and procedures; and represents the district in labor relations,” it states.

“He/she is responsible for formal recruitment, the selection, assignment and evaluation process, termination process, coordination of grievances, and providing appropriate recommendations in the areas of wage, salary, and benefit administration. He/she provides statistical data as appropriate in order to assure quality decision making on the part of the superintendent and cabinet regarding personnel matters, and assures the implementation of equal employment opportunities,” according to the AJUSD document.

The required education is a master’s degree in administration and an Arizona certification in administration.

Network administrator

The full-time position is to have a salary of $55,198.00-$74,360.00.

“The network administrator will install, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot and maintain the existing network (voice, wired and wireless) and network infrastructure,” the description states.

The required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent plus five or more years experience planning, maintaining and overseeing information technology initiatives such as wired, wireless and voice networks.

Preferred experience is college-level courses in information technology-related areas, such as management information systems and computer science. Also, industry certification in the area of network communication technologies, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional, CompTIA Network+, etc.; and experience leading complex network-related technology projects.

Human resources technician/substitute coordinator

The full-time position salary is Range 112 --- which is $15.37-$20.70 an hour.

“The HR technician/substitute coordinator provides direction and support to substitute personnel on a daily basis; keeps a record of all staff absences; and updates forms, files and handbooks. This position also provides support to the HR Receptionist and the HR coordinator with classified staff,” the description states.

The required education is a high school diploma or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training.

The preferred experience is school and/or district human resources experience, it states.
