Richard (Dick), age 86, passed away on Friday, June 4th in Sun City West, AZ. He is the son of Joseph and Marie Dougherty who were the proprietors of Dougherty Drug store in Oglesby, IL. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Bede Academy High School in Peru, IL.
Dick joined the Navy in 1954 where he was a corpsman stationed in Philadelphia, PA. He married Lorraine Adamski of LaSalle, IL in 1956. He worked for the JCPenney Company for over 30 years with frequent transfers and relocations throughout Illinois, Minnesota, New York and Michigan, before retiring in 1995 to Sun City West, AZ.
Dick was dedicated father, a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, bowler, and golfer.
Dick is survived by his four loving sons, Joseph, Kevin, Kenneth, Timothy, ten grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister, Helen Comiskey of Crystal Lake, IL. Proceeded in death by brothers Joseph and Philip.
Before his beloved Lorraine’s passing in 2019 from Alzheimer’s disease, Dick showed unparalleled devotion to her by spending every waking moment taking care of her needs and making sure she was not alone.
Funeral mass on Monday, June 21st at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, 340 E.
